september fifteenth.
I'm laying on my stomach at 12.30 in the afternoon, listening to devendra banhart while incense is burning and I'm drinking coffee. To fully appreciate certain things from the previous sentence you need to know a little back story. Last night I went to starbucks with yolie with (almost) every intention to study, but things went awry. We talked a few hours away into nothingness, only noticing when the sky we saw from the outdoor patio turned a pretty dark blue color. Talk lead to movies, movies lead to movies we saw, that lead to movies we want to see, long story short, we went to the movies. I'm really proud that we didn't just cab it since we're trying to save a bit of money, so after about 45 min after a combination of riding the subway, taking a bus, and walking in the wrong direction for a good while, we made it to see Inglorious Basterds. I don't have much to say about it, but it definitely wasn't as good as all my friends made it out to be. Brad Pitt's character got old really fast for me, I wasn't expecting so much violence, and a lot of parts dragged on unncessarily long. That being said, I was blown away with Christoph Waltz's performance. I don't know, I wouldn't go see it again. We got out of the 10.15 showing at 12.50 (its LONG) and talked about my hair color and how it will significantly improve as I wash out the darker pink. Yolie wanted to show me this pub that opened literally 30 seconds away from her apartment, so we went in. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Its all war-decorated, which was terrifying because we had just come from seeing a war movie where people died randomly and I got nervous, but the idea behind the place is so cute. Its open 24 hours a day, has cheap but good home-made food cooked when you order it, and has beer for cheaper than I've seen it anywhere in bucharest. Apparently they opened two weeks ago so things are kind of slow, but I really think it'll do well. I'll have to take pictures and post them here. When I went up to get our third round while yolie was in the bathroom, the bartender started talking to me before I could take our beers away. Being a nice person, I made small talk with him, (sorry hayleyghoover!) thinking I could still be back at our table by the time yolie was done in the bathroom. Nope. She came out and found me at the bar, so the bartender invited us to sit down with him, and not having a legit excuse (I was updating my twitter before) we accepted. I'm so glad we did, because last night is going down in my memory as one of those really cool experiences that I never would have had if I didn't move from my hometown. I mean, I'd be able to have freaking subway everyday, but not experiences like that. fjdksfdhjsf. rant over. We stayed at the bar for hours, talking with this guy about life in general and sharing experiences. My beer mug kept getting magically refilled and I only made this connection the fourth time I went to pee. Things started going downhill when he suggested we youtube whatever music we wanted and I... sigh. I can do this. I... put on... Party In the USA by miley cyrus. I'm not even going to defend myself. I like having dance parties to it on repeat. There. I said it. Oh crap! I have to be at school in 24 min anddd I have a lot to do. So I lost track of my beer count, got reallllly dizzy, played miley cyrus while yolie cringed, and we left the pub around 5. SO all that was to show how crazy the fact that I'm up at noon the next day is, with cute music playing and fresh coffee being consumed. Okay! I feel really accomplished that I blogged, let's hope the rest of the day is as productive!
xox,
loveacrosstheocean : )
I find it hilarious that you played that song. I heard it for the first time on Sunday, went home and downloaded it and have been listening to it pretty much non-stop ever since. Yeah. You should definitely NOT be embarrassed. It is a great song.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fun night. I hate when movies get built up for and then fail to meet expectations! I used to sit next to a girl in my computer class in high school and she never failed to ruin the latest movies. Sad face. I was let down by Juno and (this is probably going to make you want to hit something) Atonement. Later when I re-watched Atonement I was able to enjoy it so the situation isn't too horrible.
Good job for being awake and blogging. You win. :-)
